Patterns of Neonatal Thrombocytopenia with A Note on Platelet Indices and Optical Technology – A Cross-Sectional Study

Introduction: Neonatal thrombocytopenia is defined as a platelet count <150×10^9/L regardless of gestational-age. It results from hypo-proliferation in marrow or peripheral destruction platelets. Platelet can be rapidly measured using automated hematology analyzers, but smear remains best method. The causes neonatal are by time presentation into foetal (mainly TORCH infections), early (< 3 days), and late. present study highlights pattern severity hospital, adding importance indices optical technology.
 Aim: To patterns thrombocytopenia, to measure accuracy technology methods against smear.
 Materials methods: A cross-sectional done for period 8 months December 2018 July 2019, at ASRAM medical college, Eluru. During this blood samples 113 critical cases newborns, admitted with were collected Ethylenediamine tetra acetic acid (EDTA) vials. was analyzed two Sysmex XN1000 Horiba ABX Pentra XL 80. Leishman-stained films examined under light microscope. ANOVA test used find mean difference between counts, sensitivity, specificity, calculated MEDCALC CALCULATOR.
 Results: Out total new-borns intensive care unit (NICU) institute, 85 presented thrombocytopenia. variation noted 40 cases, cultures 77 cases. Thrombocytopenia showing less than 20,000/ mm3 considered very severe, 30.5% (26 cases) number. Elevated 47.5%. common clinical diagnosis sepsis (42.3%), followed jaundice (18.8%). scatterer principle evaluation proved have better electrical impedance, comparison findings.
 Conclusion: concludes that septicemia major cause correlating indices. And also, usage hemogram reports indices, source information suspect etiology thereby preventing adverse outcomes. Optical Light technique an analyzer gives the impedance detecting value, though examination mandatory confirmation.
